What am I riddle lock
A what-am-I riddle typed into a written-answer lock: pages but not a tree, a spine but no bones, a cover but not a bed. The answer is a single word in the pupils' own language, English, French, Spanish, Catalan or Portuguese, and it makes a five-minute opener for a language or vocabulary lesson that you can play right now. The template is free: it publishes as it is on the free plan, players open a link without signing up, and the lock never expires.

Questions about this template
- What is a what-am-I riddle with the answer book?
- I have pages but I am not a tree, a spine but no bones, a cover but I am not a bed: a book. On this lock the class types the word to open it, so the riddle becomes a game rather than a question read aloud.
- Does the answer change with the language?
- Yes. The riddle and its answer are written per language, so a French class types livre, a Spanish class libro and a Portuguese class livro. Capitals do not matter; accents do in the languages that use them.
- Is this vocabulary riddle lock free?
- Yes. It is a basic lock: a riddle, a hint, your own wrong-answer line and a designed reveal. A free account publishes it as it is, players need no account, and it never expires. You can replace the clues and the word with any riddle from your lesson.
- Is this template free?
- Yes. Playing it, copying it and publishing it cost nothing, and a free lock never expires.
- Can I change the answers and the texts?
- Yes. Every code, clue, hint and reward opens in the builder, and nothing is saved until you publish.
- What do players need?
- A phone or a computer with a browser. They open your link or scan your QR code, and never create an account.
- How long does it take to play?
- About 5 minutes, from the first lock to the reward.
