Marriage proposal reveal: the question behind one lock they crack

A marriage proposal reveal is a locked link that hides the question. You write 'Will you marry me?' behind a small lock whose code comes from your story, a date, a place, a first message, and they crack it to reveal the proposal. Free, no app, and the screen they unlock is the one they will screenshot.

How it works

1

Lock the question

Write the proposal in your words, add a photo if you like, and set the code to a date, a place, or a memory you share.

2

Lead them to the link

Send it at the right moment, or print the QR code as the final clue of a trail around the house or the city.

3

Reveal the proposal

They crack the code and the question appears on the screen, while you are already on one knee.

Designed down to the last detail

Style every pixel of the lock, and watch it open on film.

Nothing on the screen is fixed. Pick a theme, choose a filmed object that fidgets while the lock holds and opens on video, with sound, when the code is right, then a celebration for the moment it opens. Set the typeface and size, and end on your own reveal. Your players see exactly the screen you designed.

A complete example: the date code

This is the lock in the demo above, the way it is used most often. Copy it as is, or set your own date.

How it happens
The last clue of a short treasure hunt at home is a card with a QR code and the words 'one more'.
Question
Our first date, as four digits
Lock format
4-digit numeric code. The answer is 0214, February 14.
Hint
'February 14, so 0, 2, 1, 4.' Easy on purpose. Nobody should be stuck on a keypad during a proposal.
Reveal
'Will you marry me?' with a photo of the two of you from that first date.
Other codes
The GPS lock, which only opens at the spot where you met, or a written answer: the first word you ever texted them.
What you see
That the lock has been opened. You will not need the screen to know.

Puzzle proposal ideas

The date code

Set the numeric code to the day you met, with a hint only the two of you would understand.

Proposal at home

Hide the question behind a lock and reveal it as the last step of an evening you set up at home.

Where it all started

Use the GPS lock so the proposal only unlocks once they stand where you had your first date.

Bridesmaid first

Planning the wedding already? Use the same idea to ask your bridesmaids in a memorable way.

City trail

Three QR codes at three places that matter to you, the last one opening the question.

The first message

A written-answer lock that opens on the first word one of you ever sent the other.

Simple, honest pricing

Free to create and share. The Event Pass, paid once for one event, removes the Lock Challenge branding from the screen they will screenshot.

Proposal reveal questions

What is a marriage proposal reveal?

A marriage proposal reveal is a locked web page that hides the question. 'Will you marry me?' sits behind a small lock whose code comes from your story, and your partner cracks it on their phone to reveal the proposal. It works alone or as the last step of a treasure hunt.

How can I propose with a puzzle?

Create a free lock, write the proposal as the reveal, and set the code to a date, a place, or a word from your story. Print the QR code as the final clue or send the link at the right moment. See puzzle proposal ideas.

Can I also use it to ask my bridesmaids?

Yes. The same lock works to ask someone to be a bridesmaid or maid of honour. Read creative ways to ask a bridesmaid.

What if I want it to be a surprise in person?

Print the QR code as the final clue, or send the link at the perfect moment, so the reveal happens right in front of you.

Does my partner need an app?

No. The link opens in their phone's browser, with nothing to install and no account.

Is it free?

Yes. Creating a proposal reveal is free, and you can hide text, a photo or a YouTube video on the free plan. Attempts are unlimited. An Event Pass or Pro styles it with a theme, an animation and your own pictures, and removes the small 'Powered by Lock Challenge' line from the screen.
