A note in the victim's pocket names a bird, but the letters are reversed: N E V A R. Type the word the right way round.

The seating plan
Four seats were empty at dinner, one in each row, running from the top-left corner straight down the diagonal to the bottom-right. Select all four.
steps 3 · Ordered switches
The sequence of events
Four events, one per switch. Flip them in the order they happened: the clocks were changed (4), then the lights went out (2), then the scream (3). The fourth switch never happened.
steps 4 · Username and password
The archive login
The card reads: user is your rank, password is when the trouble started. Rank: inspector. Password: the hour the clocks struck twelve at night.

The time of the crime
Enter the time of the log entry as four digits, hours then minutes, with a leading zero.
