The Vault Heist

The Vault Heist is a five-step online escape game in which a team cracks a bank vault: a guard's rota, a breaker panel, a laser grid, a Latin word and the dial. It takes about 45 minutes and plays from one link on everyone's phone, with no account.

    The guard's rota

    🌙 The night guard clocks in at 3:15 pm and works exactly eight hours.

    🚪 The door logs his exit on a 24-hour clock with seconds:
    🔢 six digits.

    The breaker panel

    ⚡ Breakers, left to right: Lobby, Corridor, Kitchen, Vault, Roof.

    📹 Blind the corridor cameras first, then kill the vault alarm.
    📻 Cut the lobby last: the guard's radio runs on it.

    The laser grid

    🧩 Beams cross every row and every column of the 3x3 grid.
    The only gap is the path a ♟️ chess bishop would take from the top-left dot to the far corner.

    'Founded the year Wall Street crashed and the Great Depression began.'
    📉 Lovely timing for a bank.

    🔢 Set that year on the dial.

Ideas to make it yours

  • Swap the coin's year for the year your company was founded
  • Rename the breakers after the rooms of your own office
  • Replace the Latin word with your team motto or a product name

Questions about this template

How hard are the puzzles?
They are rated hard: a 24-hour clock sum, a breaker order to deduce, a path to trace and two general-knowledge riddles. Every step has an optional hint that nearly gives the answer away, so no team stays stuck for long.
Can a remote team play it together?
Yes. Everyone opens the same link in a browser, so a team on a video call can crack it together. One person can also share their screen while the others shout answers.
Can the vault open on our company's founding year?
Yes. Every question, answer and reveal can be changed, so the final dial can take your founding year and the Latin word can become your team motto. The lock stays editable after you share the link.
Is this template free?
