The Haunted Manor

The Haunted Manor is a four-room Halloween escape game played online: light the candles, follow the footprints, play the ghost's tune and open the crypt. It takes about 30 minutes, spooky enough for teenagers and gentle for younger kids, from one link on a phone.

Ideas to make it yours

  • Change the crypt year to the year your house was built
  • Print the QR code, hide it in a pumpkin and start the trail in the dark
  • Rewrite the candle rhyme around your costumes' colours

Questions about this template

Is it too scary for young children?
No. There are no jump scares or gory pictures: the spooky part lives in the story, with giggling ghosts and wet footprints. The riddles use colours, arrows, four simple notes and a year, so younger children can play alongside an adult.
Do players need to read music?
No. The music room riddle says to start on Mi and walk down the scale, so knowing the order Do, Re, Mi is enough. If someone is stuck, the hint gives the notes almost outright.
Can I run it at a Halloween party at home?
Yes. Share the link or show the QR code on the night and guests solve it on their phones. You can also print the QR code and stick it on a door or a pumpkin to start the trail.
Is this template free?
